214 Galiza
The house is situated on a plot known as Galiza, in the municipality of Santiago do Cacém, in the Alentejo Litoral region.
The project proposes the construction of a new dwelling in close relationship with a pre-existing building of vernacular character. The building footprint – 200 m² – corresponds to the maximum area permitted for this plot. Adjacent to the house, an outbuilding accommodates the technical area and storage.
The new construction is organised into four autonomous volumes: the first, smaller in scale, incorporates an outdoor fireplace; the remaining three contain the bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom and is positioned independently within the ensemble, ensuring separation and privacy.
Between these volumes lies the common area – kitchen and living room – covered by a flat slab. This central space articulates and distributes all circulation within the house, functioning as a connecting axis between the various areas.
When the windows of the social area are fully retracted, this space transforms into a continuous porch, open to the surrounding landscape.
