FLOOR PLAN ATTIC

SECTION

Lapa

The renovation of a four floor building and loft, in Lapa, Lisbon, was the main objective of this project. The rough façade facing south with a privileged view of the Tagus river, and the main façade of the north building originate the first decisions of this project. On the contrary to what the existing typology indicated, the social area of the house should be located south, in relation to the river and sun exposure. Rooms should necessarily be located north.
As a result the typology is altered, an open room is defined facing the windows and existing balconies located south. A functional “island” is made out of a bookcase / cupboard located in the middle of the area, to create three areas with distinct activities: living, eating and cooking. The loft floor was transformed into an 80m2 apartment that took advantage of height, in that available area.
The 6m2 window on the covering facing south suffered torsion to create a relation with the other windows on the building façade.
