EB1+JI CUSTÓDIA MARQUES SCHOOL
We propose a building that aims to establish an open relationship with the consolidated urban surroundings. The main volume of the school sits parallel to the main street, making a direct connection with the exterior. The bounds established between the school and the community derives from this volume: main atrium, secondary atrium for the community and deliveries area.
The building is composed by two distinct functional areas, which may work in an autonomous way. To the East and North there’s the classrooms and administration room and to the West there’s the gymnasium, flexible room, cafeteria, library and outdoor sport facilities. This programmatic distribution allows for the separation between the strictly scholar facilities and the one’s that are shared by the community.
Due to the site configuration and limited area available, we’ve opted to plant the building as close as possible to the limit, so as to free as much possible area for playground areas.
The main playground area defines itself as the main patio.
