GALERIA DE ARTE

This intervention project proposes to transform a shop area into an art gallery in the old town area of Castelo Branco.
It’s a ground floor shop with a window display and an exterior access to rua de Santa Maria and another to an area adjoining the city walls.
The main aim of the project was to improve the light conditions in the shop area and simultaneously improve its spatial distribution.
The construction of an architectural element in the transition zone between the entrance area and the patio area so as to create a spatial hierarchy that emphasizes three distinct functional areas: the main exhibition room, the intermediate exhibition room, storeroom and the work place. It would be a construction of plasterboard panels as a structural element to create a new spatial interpretation. This element associated with MDF sliding panels allows great flexibility in space usage, which can be opened or closed according to the expositive requirements of the main exhibition room and intermediate exhibition room.
